Feeding Drupal
The Feeds module is a powerful tool for pulling data, whether from the web or from file, into Drupal in order to populate nodes, fields, taxonomies, users or database tables. Once in Drupal, the rest is up to your imagination.
Historically industries created value by extracting and harvesting raw materials from the environment, building factories to transform these into tangible consumable goods, and establishing vast and complex distribution networks to sell through. Today more than ever, the raw material is data, the factories are computers, and the distribution network is the web.
Value is being created out of thin air using tools and data that are now essentially ubiquitous. Today more than ever, your ability to keep food on the table will be a function of your ability to collect, manipulate and redistribute information. In our community, the standard practice is to setup Drupal websites where users submit content that is then manipulated and redistributed. Ultimately, however, we need to be able to create value from all that other stuff out there on the web and not be limited to what users provide.
Come discover some of the diverse ways that the Feeds module can help you create value out of thin air ;-)
