Case Study: Building the AllHotels.com CMS in Drupal
Presenter(s):
In October 2010, Travelocity added a major Drupal-based component to their AllHotels.com website. The site provides a way for users to browse and search destinations, read articles about places they might like to visit, and find links to related hotel listing pages. It was an ambitious project that included the following features:
- All content on the site needed to be translated into 6 languages
- The entire site needed to be available on 20 domains
- The CMS had to integrate seamlessly with the existing AllHotels booking engine, which features more than 100,000 hotels worldwide
- The site's architecture had to be scalable, allowing for peaks in traffic
We'll discuss how we used powerful Drupal modules like Views, Panels, and ApacheSolr search to build the site, as well as the challenges we faced in integrating Drupal with a large existing web infrastructure.
